This wine is of a bright, opaque red colour with a ruby rim and purplish reflections. Visually, it appears highly viscous with evident legs staining the glass. The very appealing colour invites one to smell it.
It has a compact, youthful nose, encompassing a very complex aroma profile with notes of black figs, cherries and mulberries. There is also a fine line of minerality that carries prunes, cloves and liquorice.
On the palate, it is dry and full bodied with beautifully balanced acidity. The full, ripe tannins incorporate complex notes of figs, blackberries and cherries. This is complemented by a fine array of spicy flavours including cloves and liquorice, all reinforced by a solid backbone of minerals.
From the nose through to the palate, this wine has perfect balance. The finish is long with savoury impressions – a truly excellent Priorat.
For the first time in our country, Clos Mogador, one of the prestigious wines made by René Barbier in the D.O.Ca. Priorat, was awarded the prestigious qualification of «Vi de Finca».
“Vi de Finca” is an additional qualification to the D.O.Ca. Priorat certification, which already recognizes this wine. Clos Mogador was the first wine to receive this prestigious qualification in the whole of Spain. It certifies that all grapes used to make this wine over at least the last five years have been sourced from the Clos Mogador single vineyard (five years which can be documented and traced), and at the same time is awarded to a wine which has received international acclaim over at least the last ten years.
